Manhattan Water Tower  1976

This is the view from my living room window. The drawing was done as the cover for a booklet for the New York City Board of Education. I have always had trouble drawing in Manhattan for a couple of reasons. I tend to draw things the size I see them so I have to get some distance. I also find it easier to carve out time to draw while we’re on vacation than during the rest of the year when I’ve got a lot of things going on. One excellent result is that we’ve always tried to take long vacations in great places.

 Close Ups

I’ve been experimenting with enlarged drawings mounted in multiple frames and then bolted together to make one large work. The photo below shows three of these.
