Christmas Cards

Text Box: We’ve been sending Christmas and holiday cards using my drawings since about 1972. I think of them as a gift more than a greeting. For years we had them printed, but after my printer, Barry Zazlavsky, told me year after year that I could print them myself, I finally tried. Now every part of the card comes from me. I do the drawing, set the type, find the paper, print as many as will fit on a sheet, try to get the greeting to print in the correct position on the back side, cut the cards out of each sheet and print the envelopes myself. It’s a monumental task and very rewarding. I don’t address the cards because my handwriting isn’t great. My father used to say; “How is it that you can draw so beautifully but you write like a chicken?”

I’ve been working on this year’s cards and I thought it would be appropriate to make this month’s neilink chapter be about some of the early cards.
